Queen Esther

I was in a Young Women's meeting one day and the spiritual thought that was given was on Queen Esther. Since then I have been thinking a lot about this amazing woman and what was asked of her. She was raised by her uncle, married a king and stood up to him to save her people. We don't ever hear the whole story and the details of what happened. But I have to wonder what exactly happened and what did this sweet sister go through? I'm sure she never planned on her life ending up the way it did. Which is why I have been thinking so much about her.

We all do it. We make plans in our minds about how we want things to work out and we go through life trying to make these plans take effect. But we don't know what the Lord has in store for us and what is going to happen. It seems like this has happened over and over again the last little while...things have not gone the way I've planned. I have been reminded that I need to put my trust in the Lord and have faith that things will work out and I know they will; it's just sometimes easier said than done. I'm so thankful for the scriptures and the insight and blessings they bring to my life.

A Good Read

Just wanted to blog about my love for a good book and how thankful I am for creative people out there who put their imaginations to some good use! These are my most recent reads and I loved them!
The third book doesn't come out until August 24, 2010...I hate waiting. I told Jeff I'm not going to start reading a series of books until they are all out!
If you are looking for a good book to read I highly recommend these!

So Thankful

This amazing sister came and spoke to our Relief Society and I have been thinking about her non stop since. It amazes me what some people go through and the faith they have. She has inspired me to be better, more optimistic, grateful, humble, charitable....etc etc. I feel sorry for my self sometimes but after hearing her story I have nothing to complain about ever. Take a minute and read her story. (click here) Sheri Dew has invited her to be apart of Time Out for Women so if you get the chance to attend I suggest you do. We take so much for granted.

I know I know...I stink at this blogging stuff. I've missed two thankful Thurs in a row. I'm going to try and make it up. This one is for the 19th.
I am so thankful for airplanes! They totally beat driving and got us to Washington in a snap! I had never ridden on an airplane until I was 18 yrs old...so sad I know. My senior year my family took trip to Disney Land and that was my first time on a plane! I've been quite a few times since then and love every bit of it :o) So thank you so much Wright Brothers for this wonderful invention!

Love ya Gracie Lou!

This week I am going to brag about my adorable niece and how thankful I am for her!
She is thought about often but these last couple of weeks especially because she just turned one! I can't even believe how fast time flies and much she has grown up. It's hard not being closer to family but I think it makes it so much harder when there are little one involved. Ya know what I mean?
These are just a few of my favorite pics of the little princess...

How can you not love that face? And can you believe those beautiful blue eyes?
We love you so much Grace and we are so grateful that you are apart of our family. It's hard to imagine what our family was like without you!
Happy Birthday baby girl!

I am thankful for...

FALL!
I love having 4 seasons and living in Utah for most of my life I have had the opportunity to enjoy all four seasons...but Las Vegas is a bit different.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the weather (I think the high today was 83 degrees...perfect) but I miss a good ole Utah fall.
This picture is one from last year that my family sent to me and I love it! I miss the leaves changing color, cool crisp mornings, being able to have a garden and the fresh veggies that come with it, the noise of the Pumkinaze across the street...I could go on and on!
I guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder!

Thankful Thursday

So I've seen this done on other blogs and I'm stealing the idea...
Once a week (hopefully) I'm going to post about something that I am thankful for.

For my first week of Thankful Thursday I am going to post about how thankful I am for visiting teaching. When we were first married my visiting teaching partner was a sweet older lady in our ward and I learned so much from her and got to be good friends with her. I enjoyed going to visit the sisters we were assigned to. She really taught me the importance of VT and I found a lot of joy in it. I am also grateful for the sisters that come to visit me (thanks Ciara (o: ) and the friendships that I have made with them. I know that visiting teaching is an inspired program and blesses our lives. Thanks for all of you wonderful visiting teachers out there!
